I’m Charity Ball, DNP, RN, and I entered research over two decades ago not by plan, but by purpose. As a nurse, I’ve always been driven by a desire to help people. When I stumbled into the world of research nursing, I quickly realized that clinical trials are how we bring new hope to patients. Research is how we answer the big questions—and how we get life-changing treatments into the hands of those who need them most.

But the more I worked in this space—from coordinating studies to leading research operations at major academic medical centers—the more I saw a serious problem: the people doing the work were overburdened, under-supported, and quietly burning out.

I’ve been the only coordinator on a study, juggling every role. I’ve watched great research nurses and coordinators leave the field because they lacked mentorship, support, and a path forward. I’ve seen and experienced failures in enrollment expectations because our site operations was insufficient or inexistent! I knew there had to be a better way—and that’s why I created Elevate.

Elevate Research Consulting exists to support the people behind the protocols. From mentorship and training to site operations consulting and fractional leadership, we’re here to strengthen the research workforce—because when the team is strong, the science succeeds.
